Data-base has been created on the basis of the materials found at the Estonian Academic Library, but the sources of the Estonian Centre of Geology and the Institute of Geology has been used as well. Subject words are added to the entries.

Data-base Geology, which has been created in 2001, is reflecting literature published since 1981-2000. Earlier materials are available in the printed form.

The aim of the database is to reflect all the original articles as well as the issues, dealing with the activities of the Estonians, living abroad. The database does not include reports about Estonia nor articles, primarily published in Estonia.

The VEART database was created in 1999 as a successor to a card file, covering the content of Estonian periodicals from abroad. It describes newspaper articles from 1990-1999 and selective articles of major Estonian newspapers and journals from 1944-1999.
